Ethan first picked up the violin at age six. He began lessons under the instruction of Thomas Schoen (Edmonton, AB). His desire to play old-time fiddle led him to Camp Calvin where he has had the opportunity to learn from Canada's best fiddle players.
Some of Ethan's awarded accomplishments include: Alberta Open Champion 2016, Grand North American Old-Time Fiddle Champion 2019, a finalist at the 2017 and 2018 Canadian Grand Masters in Quebec and Ottawa respectively. He also received the Ward Allen Memorial Trophy for Best Old-Time Waltz at the CGM for both of those years.
Ethan is the 2019 and 2022 Canadian Grand Master Champion Fiddler.
