These are stout woodworking chisels for the timber framer or anyone doing substantial woodworking. Forged from 1084 and 15N20 steel and fully heat treated, they will have longevity and edge retention for years to come. The Damascus steel is 200 layers of twist pattern (random pattern) forged into a solid round bar. This bar then has the hole for the socket drilled and tapered so that there is no weld seam. This adds rigidity and smoothness inside to the socket. These damascus chisels are very comparable in edge retention and overall strength to the regular chisels I offer. The bottoms are ground flat, and they ship standard with a 120 grit edge on a 30 degree bevel. They have a hickory handle and a steel collar can be added at the top upon special request. The edge will be right on dimension, and the body will taper towards the back slightly to avoid binding in a mortise. The sheaths are custom fit by a local leather worker, and are optional with your purchase.
